Welcome to Communication Design
About this course
In this course, students will learn about the relationship of graphic design to all areas of communication, and will gain hands-on experience designing print publications intended to communicate with specific audiences in a diverse society. The course will introduce students to the tools of graphic design including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. We will also cover the basics of client-designer relations and all stages of the print production processes from concept to completion.
This website will serve as a primary source for course materials: some of the course required readings will be posted here in PDF format. Components for take-home assignments and in-class assignments will be posted here as well. In addition, you will always be able to download a copy of the course syllabus from this site, should you lose yours (which, of course, you won’t).
This site also contains links to other sites students may find useful in their coursework, such as links to digital stock providers and links to design websites that are full of tips, tricks and samples to help with “divine inspiration.”
